North Korea Defiant

February 14th, 2009 § 0

North Korea has pulled out of the six-party talks initiated by the veto- empowered members of the United Nations Security Council, after the members condemned North Korea for refusing to de-nuclearize and for launching a “satellite” on April 5, 2009, in spite of being forbidden to do so. A consensus was reached by Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso and South Korean President Lee Myung –Bak, though the regional summit that was scheduled to take in Thailand was postponed last Saturday. North Korea was asked to refrain from any further satellite launch and earlier sanctions imposed on North Korea were to be reinforced.
